MultiVersus Launch Date Revealed, Bringing New Characters, Attacks, Game Modes
MultiVersus officially has a date for its return.
MultiVersus' servers were shut down after the beta closed, leaving fans wondering what would happen next. After a very hype teaser that had the FGC speculating about MultiVersus about his return, developer Player First Games has unveiled the actual date for the game's launch.
You can expect MultiVersus servers to return on May 28, 2024.
On top of getting a release date, Game Director Tony Huynh also shared updates that the development team has been working on before the relaunch. Huynh said the team learned a lot from the open beta and have been "hard at work" ever since.
"We have aspirations to make a platform fighter you'll love as much as we do," Hyunh said.
MultiVersus Improved Gameplay
MultiVersus is known for having a wide range of characters from Warner Bros' expansive properties. When the game launches in May, you can expect more characters as well as maps inspired by worlds that were never explored in-game before. Every character will be getting new attacks and mechanics so you can show off more skill expression.
On top of that, Hyunh announced that the game has been moved to Unreal Engine 5, offering new and improved visuals and character models. He added: "Shaggy's sandwiches have never looked better."
The game has been essentially "rebuilt from the ground up" with its new net code in mind as well. This will ensure "consistent, world-class online play" so every attack and dodge will be delivered with "pinpoint accuracy." This new netcode will make MultiVersus have more competitive potential across all consoles.
If you're not in the mood for competition, however, developers are introducing a brand new PvE mode. This will allow you to play without the pressure of competing against other players online. There will also be unique rewards in this game mode but not much else has been revealed.
Hyunh promised that more details will be coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned ahead of MultiVersus launch.
