Overwatch 2 Season 9 Mid-Season Patch Will Change the Meta
Overwatch 2 heroes are seeing significant changes in the upcoming mid-season patch.
Today, Overwatch 2 is released a mid-season patch that aims to make heroes more balanced for the latter half of Season 9. There are big changes in store for many prominent heroes including Doomfist, Mauga, and Lifeweaver
Season 9 itself started off with some massive changes in how gameplay works. Heroes were given passive healing and projectile sizes were significantly increased. Not everything was a hit with the Overwatch 2 community so it's not surprising to see developers dive in with some hero changes soon after.
In a Director's Take, Director Aaron Keller stated that the meta will be changing with the mid-season patch.
"The changes made this season were designed to address multiple issues in the game, based largely in part on your feedback," Keller wrote. "We're happy with how these modifications have shifted the game, but there are two areas we want to improve a bit: the damage passive, and how some individual heroes have landed after the shakeup. We think the direction we’re heading in is correct but agree that some changes still need to be ironed out."
