Unlock the High-Level Raids

If you haven’t battled in the 5 Star tera raids, this is what is going to take you the most time. To unlock access you need to have finished the core story of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. You’ll be asked to go around and battle all the gyms again, then participate in the Ace Tournament. After doing so Professor Jacq will contact you about the newly unlocked 5 Star Raids which can be accessed on all available regions of the game.

Capturing Dialga and Palkia

Start by finding the raid den for either Dialga or Palkia, keep in mind that Dialga can only be Pokémon Scarlet while Palkia is a Pokémon Violet exclusive. These Pokémon’s raid dens will be shown as a dark, black flashing Dragon-type icon on your map. Both legendaries will always be of the Dragon tera-type for these raids, so that’s going to help determine the best counter to take him down. It is important to note that you may only capture one of each per save file.

The 5 Star Raids aren’t usually difficult but due to the special nature of this event they might pose a challenge, so it’s recommended you go in with a group of actual players and don’t just fill up your team with NPC players.

Rewards for Dialga and Palkia

The official list of rewards when beating Dialga and Palkia has yet to be announced but considering past tera raid events we can assume completing them will possibly reward the player with Herba Mysticas, Ability Patches, Capsules, a large amount of Tera Shards, and plenty of items to sell for Pokédollars.

Dialga and Palkia’s Set-Up

Both Pokémon can possess the Pressure and Telepathy abilities, and neither should impact the difficulty of the battle however they do have quite strong unique moves with Spacial Rend for Palkia and Roar of Time for Dialga, both being Special Dragon-type attacks so be sure to bring Pokémon able to properly tank them.
