What is Regulation E in Pokémon VGC?
Release date
The Indigo Disk is set to release on December 14th, 2023, to have access to the DLC on launch day you must first buy it through platforms such as the Nintendo eShop app on your Nintendo Switch, the official Nintendo.com online store, and many others, but we always recommend going through official sources to avoid any possible headaches.
Blueberry Academy
Similar to The Teal Mask DLC, The Indigo Disk will feature brand-new areas for players to explore, the story will be played out within the Blueberry Academy which is part of the Unova region featured in Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
Blueberry Academy presents a terrarium with four different environments which will contain different trainers and Pokémon. New faces such as Professor Cyrano and the battle-prone student Lacey will be met throughout the story and characters such as Carmine and Kieran who were the main characters in The Teal Mask will be back!
Returning Pokémon
With a new DLC comes a brand new list of Pokémon names that will become part of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s official roster, although the complete list has yet to be announced it has been revealed that all previous generations will be featured.
The news that made all Pokémon fans happy was that all starter Pokémon will be available throughout the story and unlike previous games players will be able to catch them in the wild. It is also important to note that this DLC will also have regional forms such as Alolan Exeggutor.
The base level of all Pokémon found in The Indigo Disk will be 65 so be sure to have a roster ready and trained enough before embarking on this new journey.
New Pokémon
There have been four new Pokémon officially announced so far and all of them are either mythical or legendaries. The first DLC exclusive Pokémon announced is Terapagos, a turtle-like Pokémon that holds many secrets such as a new tera-type and many others which will certainly be one of the focuses of the story. All three of the remaining officially announced Pokémon are Paradox variants of already known Pokémon: Archaludon (Duraludon), Raging Bolt (Raikou), and Iron Crown (Cobalion).
BB League
BB League, short for Blueberry League, is what the community has been calling the “new Elite Four”. Scattered around the four regions of the terrarium players will have to face four strong trainers which have been cited to be quite a challenge for the unprepared in order to progress The Indigo Disk's storyline.
Clubroom & League Club
Both the Clubroom and the League Club are indoor accessible areas within the Blueberry Academy. The League Club will work similarly to other common areas in the base game’s academy where players will be able to interact with students and professors to “deepen their bonds” which might lead to friendship events similar to the base game. The Clubroom however is the new indoor area Pokémon fans are most excited about, by utilizing in-game currency you will be able to upgrade and customize the Clubroom to your liking, we can only hope this feature will be similar to what we have already experienced with Secret Bases featured first in Pokémon Black & White.
Flying and New Minigame
The Indigo Disk will introduce yet another feature for Miraidon/Koraidon, players will now be able to fly while riding their legendary Pokémon of choice. Although no official confirmation has been given trailers have shown the player utilizing this new transportation method in Kitakami which leads us to believe it will be a skill available in all previously accessible regions.
Similar to The Teal Mask, the DLC will introduce another minigame that will reward the players with resources depending on their performance, this minigame will have the player using their newly-acquired flying skills to travel through various courses.
End-game content exclusive
It has been confirmed that, unlike The Teal Mask, the second half part of the DLC will only be accessible after the player has already completed the main storyline from the base game so be sure to finish everything featured in Paldea before the DLC launch date if you want to hop in as soon as possible.
New tera type
First revealed in the 2023 Worlds closing ceremony, a new tera type will be made available in The Indigo Disk DLC. Although being one of the first announced information from the second half of the expansion not much has been confirmed regarding what this new Tera type actually is and how it might affect the battlefield.
Double-battle focus
Many content creators have been given limited early access to The Indigo Disk and one common feature communicated by all of them is how the DLC will have a focus on double-battles which although is the official competitive format has not been given much of a highlight in any of the Pokémon games so far. Throughout the Blueberry Academy players will face trainers specialized in double-battles who will have strategies crafted for this format of battle.
