The Pokemon Company has finally announced Pokemon TCG Live officially for the first time — and the release date is here.

The existence of Pokemon TCG Live has been on card players’ radars since the end of 2021. But this was due to a leak. Since then, competitive Pokemon fans anxiously awaited more news about TCG Live.

Luckily, official news has arrived — and it’s exciting!

Pokemon TCG Live Release Date

The Pokemon Company has announced that TCG Live is going live on June 8, 2023. The game has been in beta since November 2022.

Here is where you’ll be able to play TCG Live:

  • iOS: iPhone 7 and iPad 2017 and newer (with iOS 15 and later)
  • Android: Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Tab A and newer (over 2GB of RAM)
  • PC: Windows 7 and later
  • Apple Computer: Mac OS X 10.12 and later

Pokemon TCG Live Price

Pokemon TCG Live will be released as free-to-play. But there are actually three different in-game currencies.

Coins

Coins are being carried over from Pokemon TCG Online. These will be used for cosmetics that don’t impact gameplay, like your avatar and deck accessories, including deck boxes and sleeves.

Credits

When you get copies of TCG cards, they are converted to Credits. These can be redeemed for single cards to add to your growing collection.

Crystals

This third currency is used to buy cards from the in-game shop, including singles and booster packs. Crystals can also upgrade your battle pass to the premium pass so you can earn more prizes.

Pokemon TCG Live Gameplay and Features

The Pokemon TCG Live app will have a lot of the same features of Online and a lot of new ones. One of the biggest updates is ranked gameplay. This will create more competitive practice and provide better prizing.

When the game starts, trainers will get eight decks to start off with. But you can create your own once you are more comfortable with how the card game works. You can also unlock in-game cosmetics and booster packs by progressing through the battle pass.

The avatar can be more customized than ever before, including skin tone, hairstyle, and a variety of clothing items to mix and match.

You’ll be able to transfer your items from TCG Online over to TCG Live, including:

  • Sword & Shield
  • Sun & Moon: Lost Thunder, Team Up, Detective Pikachu, Unbroken Bonds, Unified Minds, Hidden Fates, Cosmic Eclipse

You can transfer over Sun & Moon, XY, and Black & White, but they are not playable at launch. A lot of your coins, sleeves, and deck boxes will also be carried over.

Unfortunately, your saved deck lists won’t be carried over. This is pretty frustrating but you can export the lists from Online to save locally and then import to TCG Live.
