How Does Stellar Type Work in Pokemon?

What is Stellar Type?

This type works in a unique way. It’s different from the usual types like Fire and Water. Instead, all Pokémon can become Stellar type. No Pokémon is considered Stellar type and it’s more of a state of being. More specifically, it’s a state of being when a Pokémon is also Terastallized.

Stellar ‘mons are super effective against other Terastallized Pokémon. When a Pokémon is Terastallized into Stellar type, they keep their base typing’s defensive properties. Meanwhile, they have no weaknesses or immunities.

Are Stellar Pokémon Good?

When a Pokémon is given the Stellar type, they unlock two moves. The first is Stellar-type Terra Blast. This version of Tera Blast can only be used if your ‘mon is Terastallized and has a Stellar-type Terastallization. The second is Tera Starstorm, legendary Pokémon Terrapagos’ signature move. It becomes Stellar-type under the same conditions as the previous move.

If a move doesn’t match a Pokémon’s type, it will get a 20% boost in damage the first time the move’s type is used. If a move does match the Pokémon’s base type, it gets a 100% boost, doubling the damage. After its first use, it will return to the usual 50% boost.

Terrapagos Stellar Type

One Pokémon works differently than others when it comes to Stellar type. Terrapagos, the new legendary, uniquely interacts with Stellar type.

When Terrapagos Terastallizes, that’s considered its final form. The Stellar form of Terrapagos gets 100 more to its total stats, giving it a whopping 700 base stat total. This has placed Terrapagos in the top ten for highest base stat total.

Terrapagos is the only Pokémon right now to have an additional form beyond the standard Terastallization.
