  • Who won VCT 2023 Game Changers Series 1?
  • How good are Version1 Game Changers?
  • Who is the best VCT Game Changers player in 2023?

Heading into VCT Game Changers Series 1, many expectations were set on a Version1 and Shopify Rebellion Grand Final. The only question many people had was who between the two teams would be the first champion of the 2023 VCT season.

However, while there was uncertainty, it was evident that this series was Version1’s to lose. Throughout the VCT 2023 Game Changers Series 1 event, Version1 was nearly untouchable. They had not dropped a map nor let any team take more than six rounds in a game against them.

However, something that you could never count out was the synergy and talent of Shopify Rebellion, the VCT 2022 Game Changer World Championship runner-up. For Shopify Rebellion, their performance throughout the tournament was also impressive. Apart from their 0-2 loss to Version1 in the Upper Bracket Final, Shopify Rebellion had also not dropped a single map throughout their run. However, despite their 2nd place consistency, a championship trophy has always been the thing that has evaded Shopify Rebellion.

Version1 dominates VALORANT Game Changers final

Today, it was evident that Shopify Rebellion would need to wait a little longer to get their first championship as VCT Game Changers viewers are already preparing for a Version1 era in 2023. While the first map on Ascent was a close 13-10 affair between both teams, the following two maps showed that Version1’s natural talents and strategy were leaps and bounds above the rest.

Version1 surrendered 13 rounds across Pearl and Icebox as the VCT Game Changers superteam quickly stopped any Shopify Rebellion comeback as they were crowned VCT 2023 Game Changers champions.

This win marks former Cloud9 White duo Melanie “meL” Capone and Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi’s seventh consecutive domestic VCT Game Changers title as the two continue their winning ways in 2023.

Who is the MVP of VCT 2023 Game Changers Series 1?

Yet, despite the veteran leadership and pedigree on Version1, the MVP of the entire tournament had to be Ava “Florescent” Eugene, who may arguably be the most mechanically gifted talent in VCT Game Changers. In the final series against Shopify Rebellion, Fluorescent led the leaderboards with a 1.35 Rating, 67 kills, and a 290 Average Combat Score as the standout performer of the series.

Now, after winning the first VCT 2023 Game Changers, Version1 will look to officially make 2023 their dynasty as they now look forward to Series II for a repeat.
