Sailing into Adventure: Exploring World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm, a 60-Person PvP Battle Royale
Retail WoW is getting an update that nobody saw coming, a 60-person pvp battle royal game mode.
The new game, called Plunderstorm, is a pirate-themed battle royal available to players with an active World of Warcraft Subscription.
Players will explore the revamped classic zone of the Arathi Highlands, gathering spell abilities, and upgrades while defeating enemies and other players to gain loot and gear. Like all battle royal games, this allows for a healthy dose of RNG to determine combinations for players to mix, match, and fight over.
There appear to be 3 ranks, from common to rare to epic, to allow players to upgrade their character each match.
There will be rewards for retail WoW, including cosmetic pets, titles, and mounts, as well as pirate-themed cosmetic gear useable in the current version of the game.
It’s expected that matches will take 10-15 minutes to complete, and it looks like the game is intended to encourage players of both classic WoW and retail to enjoy the experience.
