The Jordan brand is having quite a weekend. Not long after NFL stars Michael Crabtree and Earl Thomas wore Air Jordan cleats during separate NFL playoff games, the brand announced the impending opening of a Jordan-only store in New York City, located on West 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenue, just a block from Madison Square Garden, the arena that Jordan once called "The Mecca of Basketball".

Sneakerheads are undoubtedly getting excited, and the store's shoebox covering right now is indeed very cool. But, I must point out, this is not the first Jordan store, merely the first Jordan store in North America, as one popped up in the Wanchai district of Hong Kong almost half a year ago.

Still, maybe the NYPD should consider patrolling the area a bit more often during Jordan releases, given recent news...
