Jets Fan Buys Mark Sanchez's 'Butt Fumble' Jersey, Plans to Shoot it Into Space
Mark Sanchez's tenure with the New York Jets came to an end this offseason, and with it went his game-worn jersey from the infamous "Butt Fumble" game.
One of the more memorable football plays we've seen in the past decade (for all the wrong reasons), it happened during a matchup against the New England Patriots, when the ex-Jets QB ran into the backside of right guard Brandon Moore, forcing a fumble that was returned for a touchdown by the Pats.
The gaff stayed atop SportsCenter's "Not Top 10" for a record 40-straight weeks. However, Jets fan Jake Hendrickson is doing what he can to ease the pain. Hendrickson recently purchased Sanchez's jersey from that famed game, which he plans to shoot into space when the Jets eventually host the Lombardi trophy.
“For now I’ll probably just frame it up real nice and put it on my wall,” Hendrickson said. “Until we win a Super Bowl or I can get together enough money to put it on a rocket ship and shoot it to outer space because I don’t think it belongs on this planet anymore."
Truer words have never been spoken, Jake.
