Watch: The trailer for Kobe Bryant's documentary is now online
Chris Ballard’s profile of Kobe Bryant in this week’s Sports Illustrated cover story revealed that the Lakers superstar has a documentary coming out this fall. And now, the moment you've all been waiting for -- the trailer is online!
As seen above, it features a dramatic black and white clip of Bryant working out – not unlike his infamous 2004 “Love Me or Hate Me” Nike ad – and Bryant, in a voiceover, recites a very Kobe-like line: "We can always kind of be average or do what's normal. I'm not in this to do what's normal. I made that choice a long time ago."
The project was originally meant to document Bryant’s return from the Achilles injury he suffered in April 2013. But then in just his sixth game back, Bryant broke his kneecap, and the documentary changed its premise to be about Bryant’s inspiration.
The doc’s filmmaker, Gotham Chopra, told Ballard the project was 95 percent finished at the time.
Titled “Muse,” the documentary is set to air on Showtime in November.
