The first Sunday of NFL football is in the books and Steelers receiver/punt returnerAntonio Brown already has given us the photo of the year when he went all kung fu on Browns punter Spencer Lanning. Social media had some fun with the play, including this great Karate Kid parody. Even Lanning got in on the fun. In other news, Panthers kickerGraham Gano didn't let a marching band prevent him from getting his practice kicks in,Joe Flacco had one of the worst clock management decisions this side of Herm Edwards and Maurice Jones-Drew busted out the bicycle kick during a run.

Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk and Issac Bruce raced at the Rams game ... Peyton Manning became the second QB to beat all 32 teams ... D'Angelo Williams dyed his dreadlocks, toes and fingernails pink in honor of his late mother, who died of breast cancer in May ... Sunday Night Football fans are not that into Carrie Underwood... This Buccaneers fan really likes cereal ... Jake Plummer drank Bud Light with fans in the parking lot before last night's Broncos game ... College Football Notes

Lovely Lady of the Day

Good friend Cyrus from Boulder brings up a good point in wanting to know why I haven't featured Kelly Rohrbach as LLOD yet. She's even in contention for a spot in the 2015 SI Swimsuit Issue. This is nothing more than an oversight on my part and I apologize to Cyrus and Kelly (click here for the full-size gallery).

Derek Jeter Notes

It was Derek Jeter Day at Yankee Stadium on Sunday and the team held nothing back in honoring its legend. In addition to placing the Jeter Final Season Logo just about everywhere (patches on uniform, baseballs used in game, on grass in foul territory, on ring of flags around top of stadium), the team debuted a special hat the players will wear for the rest of the season (get yours today!) and unveiled a 30-foot by 30-foot photo banner of Jeter connecting for one of his 3,449 hits. There were a slew of guests, including Michael Jordan, Cal Ripken, Dave Winfield, Joe Torre, Hideki Matsui, Paul O'Neill, Reggie Jackson, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera.Andy Pettitte oddly skipped the celebration to go on an elk hunting trip with his family. but that didn't deter Jeter, who gave a great speech to the packed stadium.

U.S. Open Notes

Serena Williams defeated Caroline Wozniackiin the U.S. Open final to claim her 18th Grand Slam title, which tied Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova for the all-time record. The two legends gave Serena an 18-karat gold bracelet in honor of the achievement. It was a busy weekend for Navratilova, who popped the question to longtime girlfriend Julia Lemigova on the big screen at Arthur Ashe Stadium. She said yes. I also loved this infographic in the New York Times on the evolution of the tennis racket, from Arthur Ashe in 1968 until today.

Latrell Sprewell turned 44 today. I didn't realize he was that old, though I guess it makes sense since he hasn't played since 2005.
