DeAngelo Williams wears goggles for Carolina Panthers' 'blood and guts'
Steve Smith is out for Panther blood, well metaphoric Panther blood. After getting cut by the Carolina Panthers in the offseason, he delivered this slightly memorable quote about his potential return to Carolina while wearing a different jersey:
“If (my future path) happens to run through Bank of America Stadium, put your goggles on cause there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere.”
Steve Smith latched on with the Baltimore Ravens later in the offseason. And, this Sunday, Smith will face his former team for the first time. The game won’t be played in Carolina — the Ravens are hosting the Panthers — but that hasn’t stopped Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams from heeding Smith’s warning.
• Redskins’ Niles Paul got absolutely crushed catching a pass
Now, Williams wouldn’t actually admit to Smith being the reason for his goggles, but I’d like to think we all know the truth. The NFL is going to be worse off when Steve Smith retires, but in the meantime, while he’s still around, go get your goggles ready.
