Cubs manager Joe Maddon offers to buy everyone a shot and a beer
Wrigley Field is under construction, so the Cubs held Joe Maddon's introductory press conference at a bar across the street from the stadium. Maddon concluded the presser in the only way that seemed natural, buying everyone in attendance a shot and a beer.
"That's the Hazelton way," Maddon explained, referencing his hometown in Pennslyvania.
Sure, it was the middle of the afternoon, and the majority of those in attendance were working media, but who could pass up that offer?

Maddon just signed a contract reported to be worth $25 million, so it's the least he could do. Still, Chicago fans would probably rather have a championship, or several more shots.
Meanwhile, the media covering new Minnesota Twins skipper Paul Molitor were not quite as lucky.
