Football broadcasts have way too many graphics to pay attention to. Some of them contain useful information. Some of them only want to create the illusion that they contain useful information.

As John Teti points out at AV ClubSunday Night Football, well-renowned around the industry as a top-notch broadcast, uses the NFL's Wikipedia entry to fill space on some graphics. The tiny, tiny text underneath the word "linebacker" in the photo above is just copied and pasted from Wikipedia.

Dummy text is usually made up of Latin nonsense, since it's not meant to be read anyway, so turning it into something that's actually relevant to the game is a pretty neat idea. 

It's also helpful for any novice fans pausing the game to study the graphics intently.
