ESPN.com published a story Thursday about what Falcons receiver Roddy White is doing to help the football program his alma mater, UAB. White credits his time playing for the Blazers with serving as a stepping stone to the NFL. The program has faltered in recent years, but the team is one win away from its first bowl berth since 2004.

When White was in college, he says, UAB was on the same level as schools that now have high profile teams.

"Back in the day, when I was there, teams like TCU and Baylor were in our conference," White told ESPN.com. "Now, those teams are in the Big 12 and they're going out there and they've got a Heisman Trophy winner [Baylor's Robert Griffin III]."

TCU was in Conference USA while White was at UAB, but Baylor is a founding member of the Big 12. White did play twice against Baylor, and twice against current Baylor coach Art Briles when he was Houston, though.

It's tough to blame White for getting mixed up. Conference re-alignment is tricky stuff.
