Prospect Andrew Heaney a Los Angeles Dodger for just an afternoon
Most major league baseball games last for between three and four hours. And if the Los Angeles Dodgers had been playing one on Wednesday, 23-year-old left-hander Andrew Heaney might have gotten to see most of it.
Heaney, one of the top prospects in the Miami Marlins farm system was traded to Los Angeles as part of a seven-player deal on Wednesday, only to be traded away a few hours later.
The trade also saw infielder Enrique Hernandez, catcher Austin Barnes and right-hander Chris Hatcher head to the Dodgers in exchange for second baseman Dee Gordon, right-hander Dan Haren and shortstop Miguel Rojas.
Heaney, who was 0-3 with a 5.83 ERA and 1.330 WHIP in seven appearances for Miami, moved up the ladder from Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans last season.
The ninth overall pick in the 2012 amateur draft out of Oklahoma State, Heaney looked like a great get for the Dodgers.
Or, at least, a great got.
His Dodger career ended just a few hours later, when he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for Howie Kendrick.

Heaney, to his credit, was able to get the most out of the experience.
