The Cubs introduced Jon Lester at a press conference Monday, where he put on his new jersey for the first time.
Not only was the C on the front unusual for Lester, so was the number on the back. Lester will be switching from No. 31, which he'd worn since 2006, to No. 34. Of course, when Lester was in Boston No. 34 belonged to David Ortiz.

Lester's switch isn't necessarily by choice, though. No. 31 is retired in Chicago for Ferguson Jenkins and Greg Maddux.
Still, Ortiz probably wishes Lester asked to trade numbers with him, considering the hefty price tag players usually pay to switch.
