Sporting KC's Dom Dwyer, USWNT's Sydney Leroux were secretly married

USWNT forward Sydney Leroux and Sporting KC striker Dom Dwyer shared a secret on Valentines Day. The couple confirmed to People that they were married in January but kept it a secret until now.

"We wanted to announce our marriage at an appropriate time when we were together and at a time that suited our families," the couple said in a statement provided to People. "We also wanted to make sure that we told all of our close friends and teammates before we announced it publicly."

Dwyer and Leroux started dating in 2013. Dwyer signed a contract extension with Sporting in December and the newlyweds have decided to buy a home in Kansas City. 

They say they plan on celebrating their marriage after the Women's World Cup this summer.
