Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews ruptured his Achilles tendon on Thursday night and will miss the rest of the season. Matthews was understandably devastated by the injury and posted an emotional message on his Instagram account.

MAHONEY: Blazers prepared for life without Wes Matthews​

Matthews was injured early in the third quarter as he tried to accelerate with the ball. His foot bent at an unnatural angle and he crumbled to the ground. 

Bruce Ely, a photographer for The Oregonian, snapped a picture of Matthews in a wheelchair inside the arena.

Matthews played in 250 consecutive games to start his career, earning him the nickname "Iron Man."
