Pittsburgh Pirates centerfielder Andrew McCutchen has a lot of power.
The 2013 National League MVP is no stranger to crushing baseballs, but even he might have been surprised at what he did during batting practice on Friday.
The 28-year-old, who hit 25 home runs and had a .542 slugging percentage last season, hit one ball so hard that he ripped it apart—literally. The poor ball never really stood a chance against the player affectionately called “Cutch” by Pirates fans.
The show of power should only help McCutchen in his bid to be voted an All-Star Game starter, which he currently trails.
