Rugby player’s amazing mid-air backflip pass leads to score
Nathan Friend of the National Rugby League’s New Zealand Warriors pulled off an incredible between-the-legs, mid-air backflip pass in Sunday’s game and turned into a viral sensation.
Friend’s Warriors held an eight-point lead over the Melbourne Storm when he went up to catch a high kicked pass and flipped over the back of an oblivious defender. As he was falling to the ground, Friend chucked the ball through his legs (backwards, of course) to an open teammate.
Four passes later, Tuimoala Lolohea crossed the goal line for a try.
After the Warriors posted a photo of Friend flying head over heels, he quickly became the subject of countless Photoshop tributes.
