The Mets stumbled upon some surprise wildlife in the Citi Field weight room before Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

Manager Terry Collins told media that a raccoon was loose in the clubhouse Sunday morning. It was apparently captured rather easily, according to ESPN's Adam Rubin. Mets reliever Bobby Parnell told Rubin the beast was just a baby, and that it was of a calm demeanor, cooperated with the team and “willingly entered a cage.”

There was apparently a cage at the ready. Meanwhile, the Mets were preparing to break Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke's scoreless streak, which might explain why the raccoon was unavailable for comment.

It's not yet clear what became of the raccoon, but one report suggests it was released immediately. Stay tuned.
