Phillies giving away Pope Francis rookie cards
The Pope is visiting the United States later this month, including a stop in Philadelphia, and the Phillies are preparing for the big visit by handing out papal rookie cards.
• Peyton Manning gave Broncos media their own injury report
The cards will be handed out to fans at kiosks during the team’s Wednesday night game against the Nationals.
The sports fans of Philadelphia are anxiously awaiting the visit from the Bishop of Rome, with one group starting a petition to get the Holy Father to bless the frequently injured legs of new Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford while he is in town.
While in the United States, Pope Francis will also visit Washington, D.C., and New York City, where he will say mass at Madison Square Garden.
As required by law, all articles about the Pope and sports must include this video of a Pope John Paul II impersonator taking batting practice.
