The Mets’ apple got a bandage for the boo-boo Travis d’Arnaud gave it
Mets catcher Travis d’Arnaud bruised the home run apple in centerfield, so the team gave it a bandage.
A bruised piece of fruit is no good, so the Mets are trying to nurse their centerfield home run apple back to health after Travis d’Arnaud wounded it with a long blast on Saturday night.
D’Arnaud’s solo shot in the sixth inning stretched the Mets’ lead to two and helped them beat the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS.
MLB’s Statcast data calculated the ball’s exit velocity at 107.4 mph and the distance at 431 feet. So yeah, that’s gonna leave a mark.
