The Florida Gators mascot tried out for the open kicking spot on the football team.

It’s been a whirlwind season for the Florida Gators football team.

A new coach. An unexpected hot start. Two bigsuspensions. And Monday, the team announced an open tryout for the kicker position after an injury to Jorge Powell. 

So who will take the spot? Perhaps it’s the geeky freshman who joins the team to win the love of the students and win back the heart of the girl who left him for Will Grier. What if Billy Donovan left the NBA again to fulfill his lifelong dream to kick? Or maybe it will be an actual gator.

Okay, maybe not a living, breathing gator. But what about Albert, the Gators’ mascot? He let the school know he was ready Tuesday:
