Other Panthers line up to take blame for Cam Newton’s poster swipe
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton defended his home turf in more ways than one Sunday.
Newton helped the 8–0 Panthers remain undefeated with a win over the Green Bay Packers. Before the game, Newton also made sure the Panthers’ home field remained sacred when he snatched away a Packers fan’s banner which read, “North Carolina Cheeseheads.”
Somehow, this has become a controversy because the fan was upset Newton took away the $500 banner. Hanging the banner over the rail was actually against the rules, so even though Newton was just multitasking as stadium security and quarterback, the fan told stadium police the banner was stolen and complained to management.
Monday, Newton’s teammates came to his defense.
That’s right, if the fan wants to throw Newton in jail, he has to throw the whole team in jail. Safety Roman Harper perhaps had the best response to the whole situation.
