One of the most impressive feats of Kobe Bryant’s career was giving himself the “Black Mamba” nickname after watching Kill Bill, and actually having it stick.
Now Zoo Atlanta and the Hawks are completing the circle and honoring the retiring NBA star by naming a black mamba snake “Kobe.” The zoo’s president told ESPN it is a fitting legacy for the five-time NBA champion.

“Mr. Bryant is a legend on the court, and the black mamba is a legend in the wild.”
The Lakers will visit the Hawks for Bryant’s last game in Atlanta on Friday night. For spectators' safety, let’s hope Kobe the snake will not be in attendance.
