Beckham Update
As former NFL wide receiver James Thrash gets prepared to hear Odell Beckham's appeal for his one-game suspension on Wednesday, the context over what contributed to the Sunday fireworks between Beckham and the Panthers is becoming clearer. New video was posted online on Monday showing a Panthers player approaching Beckham while holding a bat during pregame warmups. While it doesn't appear that the bat was wielded in a menacing way, the gesture reportedly made Beckham feel threatened. (The Panthers insist that the bat is meant to symbolize the phrase "bringing the wood.") It was also reported that Panthers players hurled homophobic slurs at Beckham before Sunday's contest, which may have contributed to the hostile atmosphere. A decision on Beckham's appeal is expected to be handed down fairly soon after Wednesday's hearing. These are the arguments that Beckham is likely to make during his appeal.
