Niagara Falls building inexplicably plays Iowa fight song for six months
A vacant building in Niagara Falls is the subject of a perplexing mystery. Why have the brassy strains of Iowa’s fight song been echoing from inside the building for hours on end since about August?
The offices of the Niagara Gazette are across the street from the spooky building so the paper decided to do a little investigating.
Even in the harsh winter weather, the building’s windows remain open, so people in a one-block radius can hear the horn section loud and clear almost every night from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Customers at a tapas restaurant across the street and the tenants of the apartments above it have raised a stink about the unceasing tune, but to no avail. Attempts to reach the building’s owner were unsuccessful, so the reason for the song’s repetition remains a mystery.
Hawkeyes fans better hope the music never stops, though. It started around the same time as football season, and then Iowa went 12–2. Now it‘s continued through basketball season, with Hawkeyes ranked third in the nation. The looping fight song has to be behind it.
