Dropping the name of Warriors star Kevin Durant on a hip-hop track has become more and more common over the years. From Drake, to Jay-Z, to Fabolous, several artists have reached for Durant’s name to spice up their rhymes.
In an interview with Genius, Durant addressed many of the bars that reference his name, and expressed how honored he was to be associated with some of hip-hop’s biggest names.
He also kindly gave Meek Mill some credit for coming at Drake with some bars during their feud last summer, and said he frequently texts the Toronto-based rapper before games. Take a look below.
He also discussed what music he likes to listen to before games (A Tribe Called Quest, Teddy Pendergrass) and after (Future).
“Any given day, it could be different for me,” Durant says. “There’s so many different artists and so many different kinds of music that match every situation and I just try to find it.”
Durant’s got a new colorway of his KD9s coming out, titled “Mic Drop,” that commemorates his love for hip-hop.
