Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. But sometimes it’s a better idea just to stay home.

When the Rangers were in Boston at the beginning of the month, pitcher Jake Diekman decided to stop by the bar where the old TV show Cheers was set. He bought a souvenir mug, but it broke in his bag on the trip back to Texas. When he was unpacking his luggage, he cut his finger on a piece of broken glass.

The injury happened on July 6 but it didn’t heal over the All-Star break so the Rangers were forced to put him on the disabled list on Friday. He has to sit out until at least July 22.
