Indians make sacrifice to Jobu to end Yan Gomes’s slump
Yan Gomes’s Indians teammates channeled the movie Major League and made a sacrifice to Jobu in his name.
Through 69 games and 245 at bats, Indians catcher Yan Gomes’s average sits at an unspectacular .163. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Gomes’s teammates channeled the movie Major League and held an exorcism for him in the clubhouse on Saturday afternoon. Teammates dressed up and gathered around as they sacrificed some sort of food to the voodoo figure. It wasn’t KFC chicken, but perhaps it’ll do.
Gomes is hitting .200 against curveballs, and a terrible .109 against sliders, so perhaps this will translate.
Here’s some footage from Jason Kipnis’s Instagram.
