Mascots are always creepy. A person in a plush suit always looks unnatural, but Saint Louis University has created one of the most unnerving mascots ever.

The school’s nickname is the Billikens, which isn’t some sort of dumpling or an Irish curse word. It’s “a mythical good-luck figure who represents ‘things as they ought to be,’” according to the school.

The old mascot was a goofy, gnome-like creature but the school decided it needed updating.

The new Billiken is not “things as they ought to be.” It’s a monster.

I don’t trust that wink one bit. It looks like it’s plotting something nefarious.
