The Huskies Take Their Place

Washington is in the College Football Playoff after being controversially left out of the top four in the first ranking. Barring some crazy, unforeseen upsets (always a possibility in college football), I think the current top four of Alabama-Michigan-Clemson-Washington will end up being the final four. Ohio State may have something to say about that, though.

Cubs Keep Winning

Two Cubs—Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward—took home Gold Glove awards last night. You can view the full list here. SI’s Michael Beller also wrote a lovely piece about how he shared the Cubs’ World Series win with his late grandfather. And in case you’re tired of the Cubbies, here are baseball’s top 50 free agents.

Timberwolves Preaching Patience

You can always expect to learn a thing or two from Chris Ballard, whose latest for The Crossover took him to Minnesota for a stock report on the Timberwolves. Minny has a chance to be the NBA’s next superteam, but Tom Thibodeau is taking things slow for now. For more NBA, be sure to check out Jeremy Woo’s power rankings.

Jessica Green: Lovely Lady of the Day

Today’s Lovely Lady of the Day is Jessica Green, who hails from Tasmania, Australia. Tasmania is also the hometown of Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting, who every Indian cricket fan remembers with deep disgust. (Click here for full-size gallery.)

Living Out Loud

In this excerpt from his new book, Craig Sager explains how he decided what to wear and what to say when accepting the Jimmy V Award from ESPN. Sager has been battling cancer since 2014. SI’s Lee Jenkins chronicled Sager’s fight earlier this year.

Mission: Impossible BACK

The sixth Mission: Impossible movie has an official release date: July 27, 2018. I love these movies, and I don’t want to wait this long for the next one. The last Mission: Impossible had one of the most thrilling stunts of all time, and I NEED to know how they’re going to top it.
