Cheerleader of the Week: Morgan
Cheerleader of the Week: Morgan
My friends would be surprised to know that I:
I used to sing and act in plays! When I was younger, I sang at a lot of events in my hometown. Now I only sing in the car and the shower!
My favorite people to follow on Social Media are:
I love following the New York Times and National Geographic on Instagram! They always post beautiful photos with great stories in the captions.
My celebrity crush is and why:
Scott Mescudi aka Kid Cudi! I’ve always loved his music and I got to see him in concert freshman year. When he opened up this year about his battle with mental illness, I think he empowered a lot of young people to do the same. I really respect him for that.
If I had to watch one movie or TV Show over and over and over again, it would be:
I just started watching Black Mirror on Netflix and I love it! There’s always a plot twist. I started watching it in the third season, so now I have to binge watch to catch up!
My worst habit is:
Staying up late! Most mornings, I can’t sleep in, so I have to compensate for lost sleep with coffee.
The most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me during a game is:
Forgetting choreography on the court! At one basketball game my sophomore year, I completely blanked on a sideline routine I had known for over a year. My teammates kept making eye contact with me and trying to help me out, but I couldn’t remember the dance for the life of me.
I'd want my last meal to be:
A barbeque pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and fries! It’s a southern classic and it’ll always be my favorite.
Describe the worst date you've ever been on:
I’m not a fan of scary movies, and one night, I ended up watching two in one night because the guy I was with loved them! I don’t think I’ve seen a scary movie since that night.
Why did you decide to become a college cheerleader and/or dancer?
I started dancing when I was about three years old, so I knew I would keep dancing in college. I was used to dancing on the stage, but dancing on a football field and basketball court has a totally different energy. I’m in my fourth year on the team and I’m so glad I joined the team and had the chance to dance on the team with so many awesome girls.
Why do you want to become a Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week?
Since I went far away from home for college, I keep in touch with my family between visits mostly through social media. Whenever someone posts a picture of me in uniform, my huge family is always so excited to see it. I can only imagine how thrilled my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles would be to see that I was Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week!
