Wednesday's Hot Clicks: Dessie Mitcheson; The NBA Gives Us Its Kyrie Blockbuster
The trade to end all trades
Tuesday night's mega-deal that swapped Kyrie Irving and Isaiah Thomas more or less broke the internet and a few brains when it happened. Two All-Stars, two team centerpieces, two top-flight point guards, two contenders ... and with LeBron James as the impetus? You don't find trades that get much bigger than that. For my money, it's a trade that has so many different layers and angles that any possible interpretation of it could be correct; every take with regards to this deal is somehow valid. But if you want the opinions of folks far smarter than me, here's our NBA team with grades, what's next for the Cavaliers, and the new rivalry of Kyrie vs. LeBron. Look for far, far more in the coming days and weeks, and circle your calendars one more time for the season opener: Cavs vs. Celtics. It's like the NBA knew something we didn't.
Isaiah Thomas may want to delete this old tweet sooner rather than later

Lies and the lying liars who tell them: Jon Jones Edition
UFC 214 light heavyweight champion Jon Jones may soon find himself sans that title after reports came out late Tuesday that he had failed a pre-fight drug test, supposedly for an anabolic steroid. That's the second time in the last 12 months that Jones has tested positive for steroids (with the first one resulting in a one-year suspension); you can add that to his resume of mistakes alongside the hit-and-run incident that cost him his belt in 2015. At this rate, no bad or stupid thing that Jones does should be all that surprising, which makes this interview he gave to our own Maggie Gray about turning over a new leaf that much sadder.
Odds and Ends
We're apparently getting a Joker origin movie from, of all people, Martin Scorsese ... ESPN is pulling broadcaster Robert Lee from a Virginia college football game because of his name ... UFC fans are going after the wrong Jon Jones on Twitter ... Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of the highest-scoring game and biggest blowout in MLB history ... A litter of piglets saved from a barn fire in England were served up as sausages to the firefighters who saved them, which strikes me as kind of messed up ... MLB.com's Joe Posnanski picked the 25 best nicknames in baseball history ... Wayne Rooney has called it quits on his international playing career; godspeed, Wazza ... Arya and Sansa Stark (otherwise known as Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner) are doing Carpool Karaoke.
Little League player, big league power
13-year-old Jayce Blalock can apparently already rake with the best of them.
Speaking of big league power
Good luck scoring this one
