Do not try to videobomb Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler jokes with Heat teammates

The teammate videobomb has almost become as perfunctory as the postgame interview itself. One player is being interviewed on the court and another shows up in the background of the shot to make a funny face, spray some water or otherwise distract the man of the hour.

Nobody was better at it than LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh during their time with the Heat, but new Miami star Jimmy Butler is a different kind of dude. He may be the most intense player in the NBA, and he has no time for jokes.

After Butler led Miami to a comfortable road win over the Suns with 34 points on 11-of-16 shooting, big men Meyers Leonard and Bam Adebayo tried to distract Butler and Butler was having none of it.

Adebayo didn’t even get to do anything! He just stood in the background for a fraction of a second and Butler waved him away.

“It’s not about them right now,” Butler said when asked why he wasn’t feeling the pranks. “It’s about me.”

That big grin he flashed after he said it lets you know that Butler at least has some self-awareness.
