NFL World Trolls Urban Meyer After Jaguars Clinch AFC South Title
The Jaguars are headed to the NFL playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season.
Jacksonville clinched the AFC South division title with a 20-16 win over the Titans on Saturday night, punctuating one of the most impressive one-year turnarounds in recent memory. The Jaguars went 3-14 last season, including 2-11 under coach Urban Meyer before his firing on Dec. 16, 2021. This season, they are playoff bound at 9-8 under Doug Pederson.
With that in mind, Meyer was trending on social media Saturday night and into Sunday morning as pundits and observers had fun at his expense.
Here are some of the wittiest and sharpest comments on the matter from the social space:
Marvin Jones on the notion the #Jaguars were broken after last year with Urban Meyer.

"I think one person was broken. It wasn't us," he said.
Urban Meyer is somewhere so impressed by the win he's looking up the name of the Jags quarterback.

Hindsight is always 20/20. And for sure Jacksonville added key pieces this off-season. But still. This just underscores Urban Meyer last season was the worst coaching job in the history of the NFL, right?

If you hire Urban Meyer, you'll win a championship the following season. History is undeniable

Doug Pederson has the Jaguars in the playoffs in Year 1.

If this were Year 2 of Urban Meyer they'd be 4-13 and Meyer would be telling all of us in the media that we just don't understand how rebuilding a team the right way takes time.
Seems impossible but the Urban Meyer season in Jacksonville somehow manages to look even worse

I think we can officially move Urban Meyer being the worst NFL head coach of all time ahead of Joe DiMaggio’s hitting streak on the list of sports records that won’t be broken.

Urban Meyer committed football malpractice while he was there https://t.co/DpFSRd7Lhm
