ESPN’s Mina Kimes Explains Why Bryce Young Appears Short in Viral Photo

The height of the potential No. 1 NFL draft pick came under discussion.

With the 2023 NFL draft just a couple of months away, a photo of potential No. 1 pick Bryce Young and ESPN’s Mina Kimes went viral. Concerns over Young’s height spread like wildfire across Twitter, but now the NFL analyst has cleared the air over the mystery of the former Alabama quarterback’s height.

Kimes took to Twitter to inform fans that she was wearing four-inch heels at the time the photo was taken. That of course, would explain why Young appeared to be standing nearly even in height to Kimes, and a lot shorter than the 6-foot frame at which he’s officially listed.

Kimes quickly aimed to halt any narratives that Young might not actually be a 6-footer.

The photo went viral after a Twitter user posted it in response to Kimes analyzing the Crimson Tide product’s impressive skill set despite not being relatively tall by quarterback standards. The ESPN analyst was quick to clarify the matter, however, suggesting her choice of footwear is what created the illusion that they were nearly the same height.

With Young expected to be one of the first players off the board in the 2023 NFL draft, the last thing he needs is the internet running amok with theories about his height. It’s already been a frequent sticking point in his quarterback profile, and the photo with Kimes probably didn’t help the narrative that the Alabama star isn’t undersized.

As for Young, he’ll likely just continue to let his game do the talking.
