Video of Parrots Invading College Softball Game Goes Viral

It was an interesting and unexpected sight on the softball diamond.

Bradley University and Gardner-Webb University faced off on the softball diamond at the University of Central Florida Softball Complex in Orlando on Friday when a viral moment occurred.

Parrots swooped onto the playing field and interrupted the action during the seventh inning.

The game, which was streamed on ESPN+, left the announcers baffled at what they were seeing.

“Lots of people wondering what is happening. There are multiple parrots on the field. One almost landed on the umpire! Gorgeous birds making their presence felt,” the play-by-play announcer said.

One parrot eventually landed on home plate umpire Chad Stears, before being taken off the field by a member of the grounds crew.

Per the Peoria Journal Star, the parrots are often seen around the complex, and are actually pets of someone from the area. They are free-flight trained and often are seen around stadium.

Here’s the video coverage of the wild scene on the field on Friday.
