When you have more money than you know what to do with, you sometimes make absurd purchases.

File this story under that premise.

Mavericks wing Reggie Bullock bought an island in Belize for $2 million and named it after himself.

The five-acre island’s name is “Bullock Island,” and he plans to build a resort on it for his family and friends to vacation. Bullock reportedly made the purchase a year ago, but the news of his self-named island went viral over the last 24 hours.

Bullock told Marc Spears of Andscape that he saw the purchase as an investment.

“I’ve been looking for different things to invest my money in,” Bullock told Spears. “I found an opportunity down in Belize where I purchased an island that was about five acres that I am going to put resort villas on. It’s a vacation spot for me and my family where other people will be able to attend and enjoy different vacation activities.”

Bullock plans to build a 4,000 square foot home for himself, plus eight villas that he plans to rent out to guests. He also plans to build a restaurant, a spa and other amenities.

Playing in the NBA and owning an island? Not too shabby.
