Royals Utility Player Wowed His Teammates by Striking Out a Batter With Absolute Gas

This was pretty sweet.

Over the years we’ve seen more and more position players having to come in to pitch late in blowout games, and it doesn’t always go well for them.

That can’t be said for Royals utility player Nate Eaton, though, because what he did Monday night against the Rangers was pretty darn impressive.

Eaton, who started the game in right field but also plays a few infield positions, pitched the eighth inning for the Royals, who were trailing 11–2 at the time. He gave up two singles but got out of the inning without giving up a run.

He closed out his pitching appearance by striking out Adolis Garcia, who hit a grand slam earlier in the game.

Check this nice 92-mph fastball:

That was some pretty good heat there by a guy who had never pitched at the MLB level before. His teammates’ reactions were awesome, too.
