Being a hitter in Major League Baseball is hard enough these days with pitchers throwing all sorts of filthy stuff that moves across the plate at the last second and causes batters to look silly. 

Which makes what the Diamondbacks’ Nick Ahmed did in Tuesday night’s game against the Cardinals even more impressive: he hit a pitch that didn’t even make it to home plate. 

For real. 

Ahmed was somehow able to hit a ball that bounced well before the plate and knocked in a run with a wild double into left field.
