Parsons to Eagles After Cowboys’ Mazi Smith Pick: ’No More QB Sneaks’
Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons jumped from his seat and gave a hearty fist pump after Dallas announced the pick of Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith with the No. 26 pick in the draft on Thursday night.
Smith, who was the key cog to Michigan’s interior defensive line and earned first-team All-Big Ten honors a year ago, is sure to quickly upgrade the Cowboys defensive line.
“Dan [Quinn] knew! Look at the text man. I told you, I told you Dan wouldn’t let me down!” Parsons exclaimed on Bleacher Report‘s live draft show.
Parsons had exchanged texts with Quinn, his defensive coordinator, earlier in the day on Thursday.
“Michigan DT. Please,” Parsons sent Quinn.
“I’m all about that life!!!!!!” Quinn shot back.
When asked on the show how he felt about the Cowboys fulfilling his wish of drafting Smith, the Cowboys star yelled out, “No more QB sneaks A.J. [Brown]!”
Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, who appeared on the broadcast, is who Parsons was directing that shot at, as Philadelphia was known for running a QB sneak in nearly every crucial short yardage situation throughout the season with great success.
Parsons has an eye on stopping that play against the top team in the NFC East, and Smith should go a long way to helping make that a reality.
