Lions Fans Love Jared Goff’s Bold Dig at Aaron Rodgers After Trade

Lions quarterback Jared Goff fielded questions from team reporters at Detroit’s draft party at Ford Field on Thursday night and was asked about Aaron Rodgers’s departure from the NFC North after being traded to the Jets earlier this week.

“This past week, what was your reaction when Aaron Rodgers finally got his a— out of this division?” Goff was asked, as the crowd in attendance went crazy in the background.

Goff chuckled before delivering an incredible answer that played off the energy of the Lions fans in attendance.

“There’s a million ways I could go with this answer,” Goff began. “But I wish him the best in New York and I’m sure he’ll do a great job there. But I kinda wish he was still here so we can beat him twice a year … so there’s both sides of it,” he said as the crowd went crazy.

The Lions, of course, beat the Packers in both matchups last year, first with a 15–9 victory on Nov. 6 followed by a 20–16 win on Jan. 8 that knocked Green Bay out of the playoffs.

Goff is entering his third season in Detroit and will do so with a new backup quarterback. The Lions drafted Hendon Hooker out of Tennessee in the third-round on Friday night, and he will learn under Goff in Detroit this season and beyond.

In two seasons with Detroit, Goff holds a 12-18-1 record as a starter, completing 66.0% of his passes for 7,683 yards and 48 touchdowns to 15 interceptions.
