Keion White Explains Viral Reaction After Being Drafted by Patriots
One of the biggest viral moments on Day 2 of the 2023 NFL draft belonged to Keion White, who remained remarkably stoic after he learned that the Patriots had selected him in the second round. Although most players get emotional over this life-changing moment, White kept his cool as TV coverage showed his draft party.
When asked about this moment, White explained that he is just a calm person in general.
“I don't know if y’all seen on TV, but I'm a pretty chill person,” White said, via CBS Boston. “So I’m not very like explosive in excitement in any form. So I’ve just kind of been taking it in, and I haven’t even talked to my family, to be honest. I’ve just kind of taken it all in and handled it myself for sure.”
White is going to the right place, as his chill personality could mesh well with head coach Bill Belichick’s stoic demeanor. The Georgia Tech pass rusher should fit right in on a team whose culture is largely based on doing your own job and keeping everything in perspective.
That type of attitude also should be helpful in pressure-packed moments that are sure to come in the NFL, especially with how high expectations always are in New England.
