J.J. Watt ‘Has Talked’ With Brother T.J. About Starting a Podcast

He is looking for a new hobby in retirement and believes he may have found one.

J.J. Watt is just months removed from his retirement from the NFL, and with newly acquired free time on his hands, he’s looking for a new hobby and believes he may have found one.

Podcasting.

J.J. spoke with Sports Illustrated‘s Robin Lundberg to discuss the rise of the podcast game among NFL players, specifically with Travis and Jason Kelce, and whether or not he’d be interested in starting his own with his brother T.J.

“We’ve talked about it,” J.J. began. “We see the success they’ve had and they do a very good job of it. My brother and I have talked about it so … it’s very hard when you’re an active player. And I actually talked to Travis about this last week because now that I’m retired, I can do whatever I want. I mean I’m not winning and losing every week. But if you do a podcast and lose that week, you have to still go on and talk about random things and all that’s going on in your head is ‘I just want to get back out there.’ So I’m trying to convince T.J., but we’ll see.”

When Lundberg asked J.J. what the pitch had been to T.J., the recently retired star emphasized that he hasn’t had a winning pitch yet.

“I haven’t had a successful one,” J.J. said laughing. “So I’m working on it. I think it’s … I think we can be funny, and that’s all I’ve got so far.”

Only time will tell if a future podcast with the Watt brothers will come to fruition.
