NSFW Slip of Tongue Leaves Phillies Broadcasters Speechless

This is what happens when a promotional read goes wrong.

Anybody who’s seen the IFC sitcom Brockmire knows the stereotype of the baseball broadcaster who gets a little loose with the language while calling a game. While the eponymous Jim Brockmire’s expletive-filled tirade came as a result of an on-air meltdown, in the real world, such slip-ups are typically unintentional.

They are, nevertheless, still funny. Which brings us to the Phillies’ broadcast during Monday’s game against the Dodgers.

During the second inning, radio color commentator Kevin Stocker was doing a read for a promotional giveaway at a future Phillies home game of a Dick Allen bobblehead, courtesy of sponsor Johnson Controls. With a read full of Freudian slip potential, Stocker couldn’t quite deliver the goods, resulting in a delightfully awkward moment of silence in the booth.

Feast your ears on this beauty.

Credit Stocker’s play-by-play partner for keeping his composure at least for a couple moments, but it would have taken a superhuman effort for the pair to continue on business as usual.

The Dick Allen bobblehead presented by Johnson Controls will be given out to fans age 15 and over on Friday, June 9, when the Phillies host the Dodgers, so be sure to mark your calendars when Stocker will certainly give that read another go.
