Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner made a lot of people feel old this week when he said he had no idea who Jessica Alba was.

The 22-year-old’s remarks even prompted the actress to respond on social media.

Gardner attended Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Knicks and Heat Tuesday with his new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Just before the game, Rodgers told the 22-year-old they were sitting by Alba, but Gardner had to tell Rodgers he did’t know who she was.

“He looked at me like I’m crazy,” Gardner said Wednesday of Rodgers’s reaction.

Though the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year may not have been prepared to meet the actress, he seemingly impressed during the course of the evening. A few days later, Alba replied to Gardner’s Wednesday comments on Twitter, saying “I totally see how this kid Sauce got his name, he said to my girl, ‘How can I get caught up when I’m the catch.’ But in all honesty he was actually very polite with his elder Aaron Rodgers.”

Gardner, flattered he left such an impression, responded with shock that Alba remembered what he said word for word. Rodgers, 39, on the other hand, felt a little slighted.

“Chaperone??? Elder??? you are funny,” the four-time MVP said on Twitter.

Rodgers is almost double Gardner’s age, so after the week’s saga it seems like they’re gonna have to find some common ground outside of movies.
